How to tell us about a mistake on How Much Social Security Will I Get, and what we do about it.
If anything on this site is wrong, whether an estimate, a figure, a date, a state’s rule or a sentence, we want to fix it.
How to tell us
Email contact@howmuchsocialsecuritywilliget.com with:
- the address of the page;
- what you typed into the calculator, if it is about an estimate (leave out your name, Social Security number and earnings record: we don’t need them);
- what looks wrong, and what you expected, for example the amount SSA shows you;
- a link to an official source, if you have one.
What we do
We check what you sent against the official pages our figures come from (the Social Security Administration, the IRS, the Code of Federal Regulations and each state’s department of revenue) and against the arithmetic. If we got something wrong, we correct it. When a correction changes what a page says, rather than only its wording, the page says what changed and when.
Each year
Social Security’s figures change every year. SSA announces the cost-of-living increase, the taxable maximum, the earnings limits and the new benefit formula each October, and states change their tax rules from time to time. When they do, we update the calculators and every page that states a figure, and each page shows the day its figures were checked.
